The celebration reinforced community bonds and honoured the sacrifices made during WWII. Guests waved the Union Flags to ‘We’ll Meet Again’ and the National Anthem, reflecting on the importance of preserving history. The event was made possible through generous sponsorship from The Hedley Foundation, emphasising the enduring legacy of VE Day.

Flood Donation from Hereford City Council

Flood Donation from Hereford City Council

Representatives from Hereford Sea Cadets received a £10,000 donation from Hereford City Council today following the recent floods.

At a Hereford City Council meeting on Tuesday 3rd March Hereford City Council agreed to make emergency donations of £10,000 each to four local clubs who had been hit by the recent flooding. The clubs were Hereford Sea Cadets, Hinton Football Club, Westfields Football Club and Hereford Rugby Club.

At the meeting the Mayor and members of Council agreed that all of these clubs make a massive contribution to the life of the local community especially among young people and it was right for the Council to give them some immediate assistance as they struggle to get back into operation after suffering serious damage to buildings and equipment.

Hereford Sea Cadet unit was built in 2012 after a massive fundraising project. The Unit is raised up to stand at least 5'ft above the ground. As you may have heard on national news, the River Wye at Hereford Bridge reached an all time high of 6.11m on Monday 17th February 2020, and we fear that the water has breached the Unit level.  Obviously this is very sad for all the cadets, staff and unit volunteers.

National Band Success for Hereford Cadet

National Band Success for Hereford Cadet

Congratulations to Cadet First Class Carys who represented South West Area at the National Band Competition held onSaturday 3rd August at the Tower of London playing percussion and bugle.

South West Area achieved a commendable second place in the 'Best all-round bands' category.  The standard was extremely high with South West Area being just pipped at the post by a strong Southern Area.

This was an amazing achievement by the South West Area given that the majority of bank members had only recently started to play their respective instruments and had to travel considerable distances to practice.

To add icing to the cake South West Area also achieved 1st place in the 'best original composition'.
