DAWN TILL DUSK BOATING CHALLENGE - August 2025

We took to the water from sunset to sunrise on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd August 2025 in a test of endurance, teamwork, and sheer determination — all to raise vital funds for our unit! 💪🌊

An Unforgettable Visit to HMS Queen Elizabeth - May 2025

A group of our cadets had the incredible opportunity to visit the Royal Navy’s HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier – an experience that will stay with us for a long time!

From exploring the impressive spaces aboard to engaging discussions with serving personnel, the visit offered our cadets an invaluable insight into Royal Navy life and career routes.

The professionalism, knowledge and hospitality of the personnel made a lasting impact, inspiring our cadets and fuelling their ambitions for the future. The cadets had lots of opportunity to ask questions and gain valuable advice.

A huge thank you to the Royal Navy Recruit and Attract team for organising this visit, and to the fantastic ratings and officers who generously gave us a tour of the ship!

We're pleased to announce some changes to our leadership team at Sutton Coldfield Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets. With effect from January 2025, our Detachment Commander role has now been passed to Lt(SCC) L. Mobley RMR, a dedicated volunteer. We also have a new Unit Training Officer in place, PO(SCC) J. Ahmed.

We want to take a moment to thank the outgoing volunteers for their hard work, dedication and countless hours of effort.

We wish the new Detachment Commander and Unit Training Officer every success in their new roles.

Our Royal Marines Cadets have been busy this year, taking part in the Gibraltar Cup competition in May and many training courses, including Initial Weapons Handling tests, marksmanship, patrols and Advancement Boards.

The cadets are committed to take part in Company and Troop events and continue to portray the best attitude and dedication on every activity.

The Royal Marines Cadet Detachment at Sutton Coldfield has also grown massively over this part 12 months, with an increase of 7 cadets and 2 adult volunteers. Always striving to be the best, the team continue to focus on training delivery and the onboarding of new adult volunteers.

During June 2024 we hosted 3 regattas (watersports competitions). Over 300 cadets and adults took part. Rowing and kayaking racing was great to see! Cadets had been training hard! Very well done to everyone. Great results by many, who successfully made it to the next level of competition at South West Area Sea Cadet competitions.
