A very Royal ceremony.

A very Royal ceremony.

Today marked a truly memorable occasion as CFC Dominic and OC Ewan had the honour of attending the official naming ceremony of HMS Glasgow, accompanied by Glasgow Sea Cadets.

Both the Prince and Princess of Wales graciously took time to engage with the cadets in the lining party, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone present.

The Sea Cadets represented their community with exceptional pride and professionalism throughout the ceremony. Their dedication and conduct were exemplary, earning well-deserved congratulations.

Clydebank Sea Cadets Kiltwalk

Clydebank Sea Cadets Kiltwalk

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Clydebank Sea Cadets proudly participated in the Glasgow Kiltwalk, joining thousands of walkers in a spirited 14-mile journey from Clydebank to Balloch. This event was part of Scotland’s largest mass participation walking fundraiser, which saw a record-breaking 19,000 participants supporting over 1,100 Scottish charities over the weekend.

Cadets braved the somewhat damp weather to complete all 14 miles of the walk, supported by staff.

As part of their ongoing preparations for this year’s Kiltwalk, the Clydebank Sea Cadets laced up their walking shoes and took to the hills—quite literally—with a spirited training hike up Edinburgh’s iconic Arthur’s Seat on Saturday, April 5.

The scenic adventure welcomed both Kiltwalk participants and non-participating cadets, offering a fun and active day out in the capital. Starting from Clydebank at 10:00 AM, the group travelled by minibus to Edinburgh, where they were met with blue skies and the impressive silhouette of Arthur’s Seat rising from Holyrood Park.

Climbing the long extinct volcano was no small feat, but cadets showed determination, teamwork, and enthusiasm as they made their way to the summit, rewarded with panoramic views of Edinburgh and beyond. The hike wasn’t just about fitness—it was also a great opportunity to build camaraderie and enjoy the outdoors together.

Packed lunches were enjoyed at the summit, trainers and walking shoes got a solid workout, and the minibus journey home was soundtracked by an eclectic mix of music—unless someone forgot their playlist, in which case it was “Sounds of the Seventies” on repeat!

The day wrapped up with a return to Clydebank around 6:00 PM, with cadets tired but smiling after a rewarding and energetic day. This practice walk is just one of the many ways Clydebank Sea Cadets are gearing up for the Kiltwalk, where they’ll raise funds to support their unit and wider community efforts.

A huge thank-you goes out to all the cadets, staff, and supporters already contributing to the Kiltwalk fundraising efforts—you’re off to a fantastic start!
