Today marked an exciting collaboration between Clydebank Sea Cadets and Clydebank F.C. as cadets and staff were invited to attend the thrilling match against Gartcairn. With Clydebank F.C. currently leading the pack in the West of Scotland Football League, the stakes were high as they aimed to bolster their promotion hopes with a victory.

Amidst the electric atmosphere at the ground, the cadets took on the responsibility of conducting a bucket collection and distributing stickers to eager fans. Meanwhile, staff members were on standby to provide information about the sea cadets, answering queries and spreading awareness about the organisation.

While the final total from the bucket collection is yet to be tallied, spirits remained high throughout the day despite the narrow 1-0 defeat suffered by Clydebank F.C. to Gartcairn, who secured victory with a late goal.

The Clydebank Sea Cadets extend their sincere gratitude to the Clydebank Supporters Trust, as well as Paul and Grace, for orchestrating the event and extending a warm welcome to all attendees. This collaboration marks the beginning of what promises to be a fruitful partnership between the sea cadets and our beloved local football team.

As the chant "Come on the 'bankies!" reverberates through the terraces, we look forward to standing side by side with Clydebank F.C. in future endeavors, united in our shared commitment to our community and its success.

On Saturday, 3rd February 2024, two promising cadets from Clydebank had the honour of representing Clyde North District in the Area 5-a-side football competition held in Edinburgh. AC Gordon and OC Evans, accompanied by our dedicated staff members PO Daly (Executive Officer) providing essential first aid cover and PPO Moloney (Unit Training Officer) serving as a referee, showcased their skills alongside cadets from various units in the district.

The tournament, featuring a league system followed by knockout-style semi-finals and finals, brought together over 250 cadets from across the Northern Area. Clyde North District emerged as a force to be reckoned with, achieving remarkable success in both the Senior Boys and Senior Girls categories.

In an impressive display of teamwork and skill, the Senior Boys secured victory in the finals, claiming the coveted 1st place trophy. Meanwhile, the Senior Girls, represented by our very own AC Gordon and OC Evans, exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and determination, earning them well-deserved 3rd place medals.

The competition provided a platform for cadets to showcase their football prowess and exemplify the values of the Sea Cadet Corps. AC Gordon and OC Evans, in particular, demonstrated exceptional dedication and skill, bringing pride to Clydebank and contributing to the overall success of Clyde North District.

The entire Clydebank Sea Cadets community extends heartfelt congratulations to AC Gordon and OC Evans for their stellar performance and 3rd place finish. In a bittersweet gathering tonight, Clydebank Sea Cadets bid a heartfelt farewell to one of our esteemed long-serving staff members, WO2 Sandeman, affectionately known as 'Dode.' The evening was tinged with sadness as we expressed our gratitude for his invaluable contributions to the unit.

A dedicated servant in the Royal Navy, WO2 Sandeman has been a treasure trove of experiences, generously sharing his wealth of knowledge with both cadets and fellow staff members. His commitment to the growth and development of the cadets has left an indelible mark on the Clydebank Sea Cadets community.

As WO2 Sandeman embarks on a new journey with a posting to the United States, the cadets and staff united to express their appreciation. A specially crafted cake and a 'bankie bear' were presented as tokens of gratitude and well wishes for his travels.

While bidding farewell is never easy, we extend our warmest wishes to WO2 Sandeman as he undertakes this new chapter in his career. The Clydebank Sea Cadets community looks forward to the day when we can joyfully welcome him back upon the completion of his assignment in the USA.

May fair winds and following seas accompany WO2 Sandeman on his overseas posting, and may the camaraderie forged in Clydebank continue to resonate across the oceans.

In a solemn tribute to the lost Royal Navy Submarine K13, Clydebank Sea Cadets were honoured to be invited to attend the annual memorial service on Saturday. Submarine K13, a K class submarine of the Royal Navy, tragically sank during sea trials on the 29th of January 1917 in the Gareloch near Helensburgh. The memorial service, held at the memorial in Elder Park, Govan, brings together submariners from HMNB Clyde every year to remember the 32 lives lost in this unfortunate accident.

The cadets from Clydebank Sea Cadets demonstrated their deep respect and commitment to honouring this historical event. Their attendance, bearing, and attitude during the memorial service have consistently garnered positive comments, and this year was no exception. Senior officers in attendance praised the cadets for their exemplary conduct and reverence during the ceremony.

The significance of remembering the sacrifice of those aboard the K13 resonates deeply with the Cadets, who take great pride in participating in this annual event.
