Recruiting Unit Management Team!

Recruiting Unit Management Team!

As a member of the Unit management team, your role as a Charity trustee is more of a backstage one in terms of looking after the young people, but certainly central to our charity at St Helens Sea Cadets.  We are responsible for the building at Mill Street Barracks, along with fundraising, insurance, all the finances of the Charity and the general day to day running of the building. We also let our Unit out to other groups and organisations and the Unit Management team co-ordinate all of this.

We are total advocates of flexible volunteering, meaning that we understand the time pressures of modern life, and we aim to ensure our volunteers can fit their roles around this. For this reason,

We meet only once a month/once every two months depending on the level of activity. We comprise of a Chair, a Secretary and a Treasurer, along with other members who are all working towards making a better experience for our Cadets and Community.

We are currently looking for additional members to join our team. A Sea Cadet Trustee role is incredibly rewarding, watching young people progress and be supported by volunteers at your Unit is a great feeling, knowing that you are instrumental in facilitating it all as part of an essential team. Along with a truly rewarding experience, we can offer you in return camaraderie, experience, a full DBS and training opportunities.

Email us at recruitment@sthelenssc294.co.uk to arrange an informal chat about how you could join our team!

National Drill Competition 2023

National Drill Competition 2023

This year, our Area unarmed champions made up from 7 Scimitar cadets, attended the National Competition at HMS Raleigh. The team did very well, and placed 5th overall. An excellent achievement for the Cadets.

Thankyou to all involve not least the parents/guardians who were so supportive during their training.

Scimitar Mudders 2023!

Scimitar Mudders 2023!

On 15th July 2023, Lt Heroic Hurst, S/Lt. Danger Dillon, PO Super Simpson, CI Brave Burns and PO Bruiser Burrows of the St Helens Sea Cadet unit will be bravely taking part in the muddiest day of their lives!

We're going to need all of the Teamwork, Respect, Loyalty, Self-Confidence, Commitment and Self-Discipline (sea cadet values) we can garner to tackle the 10 km course comprising of 20 obstacles and a HUGEEEE amount of mud!!

We are doing this to help raise the money needed to get the overnight accommodation licence back (amongst other things) for the St Helens unit. It will be a HUGE benefit to both the St Helens cadets and also those all over the North West as St Helens will be able to run area qualifications once again (Just like the good old days when 2 of our participants were cadets themselves!)

So wish us luck and (more importantly?) sponsor us in this crazy mudfest!
