With grateful thanks also to Property for Kids, The Bernard Piggott Charitable Trust, The Cook & Wolstenholme Charitable Trust, The Edward And Dorothy Cadbury Trust and The Eric W Vincent Trust Fund for supporting us with our fundraising for a new Yole Club. Our new Slide Seat Rowing vessel took it's first outing last weekend during the Mercia District Waterborne MACT in which OC Burley gained both Level 1 and 2 Sliding Seat Rowing Qualifications.
Huge thanks to the Trustees of the following charitable trusts for supporting our fundraising efforts. We have now reached our target and a little bit more which will give us a little wriggle room for contingency and if not will be put towards our next project The Galley.
We are so grateful to you all:
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR SUPPORTERS, A CONTRACTOR WILL BE APPOINTED IN THE NEAR FUTURE
Senior girls from Birmingham Sherbourne, Birmingham Vernon and Walsall Units took the South West Area 5-A-Side Football competition by storm on Saturday 23rd January. There were some hard games played and more than a few injuries as a result of the hard concrete pitches for both girls and boys but they came through to win respectfully.
Highest scorers of the competition for Senior Girls Olivia Dargie from Birmingham Vernon scoring 19 goals altogether and Keegan Burley from Sherbourne taking the title for the Junior Boys.
Next stop the National competition at the end of February.
WISH THEM LUCK!
What a tremendous start to the year and for ASL Mark Lanes first competition since taking over as CO, on 10th January at the Mercia District 5 A Side Football Competition.
Some of the entrants had never kicked a ball before but were all willing to have a go and support their Unit, but more than that they came away with the medals, the cups and places in the next round at the Area Competition on Saturday 23rd January.
Team Captain AC Sarah Fox and Sandwell Sea Cadet LC Nicole Trevis took the team to a 3 nil victory in the last game to clinch the competition for the Senior Girls. Junior Sea Cadets and Junior Boys also took the trophies home with TS Sherbourne winning overall.
We were lucky enough to have reserves on the Junior Boys Side who joined another unit to enable them to compete. They were rewarded with a medal their dedication, thank you boys.
Well done everyone, we are very proud of your achievements and looking forward to the next round.
