Southern Area First Aid Competition

Southern Area First Aid Competition

Whilst many cadets rowed on the river this morning, four cadets from the unit attended the Southern Area Sea Cadets First Aid Competition.

Whilst the team placed outside of the top three, the unit and cadets should be proud of their professional performance in their first attempt at this competition.

This professional approach was recognised by the judges and resulted in MC Emily coming home with silver in the individual category!

BZ to Cdt LCpl Charlie, OC Jacob, MC Emily and MC Jack for their efforts today.

Cadets Shine at Downton Cuckoo Fair, Raising Vital Funds for Salisbury Sea Cadets

Today, 14 of our dedicated cadets, along with members of our Parents & Supporters Association, attended the Downton Cuckoo Fair to raise essential funds for our unit. For those unfamiliar, the Downton Cuckoo Fair is an annual village event that draws an impressive crowd of up to 20,000 people each year.

Our cadets warmly greeted members of the public, raising money by selling hot food and drinks while sharing the Sea Cadet Experience with those waiting in line.

By the end of the day, our cadets had successfully sold over £3,000 worth of burgers, hot dogs, and beverages! After deducting overheads and investing in equipment for next year, this will result in over £1,000 being reinvested into the unit to purchase equipment for our cadet training programme.

A special mention goes to Mr. Ross Cowan for his exceptional organisation and management of the day; without his hard work behind the scenes, none of this would have been possible.

Salisbury Sea Cadets Excel in Easter Weekend Boating Activities

The Salisbury Sea Cadets unit has had an incredibly busy and rewarding Easter weekend, with three days of inshore boating activities involving our Sea Cadets, Royal Marine Cadets, and Junior Sea Cadets. The weekend was filled with excitement and achievement, showcasing the commitment and skills of our young cadets.

Highlights of the weekend include:

  • 39 cadets participating in Dinghy Sailing, Windsurfing, Stand-up Paddleboarding, and Rowing
  • Over 300 collective cadet boating hours logged
  • 7 new RYA Assistant Dinghy Instructors certified
  • All cadets successfully completing modules within their development pathway

This fantastic weekend was made possible by our dedicated Cadet Forces Adult Volunteers, whose support and guidance were instrumental in the success of the activities.

Promotion success

Promotion success

We are delighted to announce that after several years of dedicated learning and skill development, two Sea Cadets from Salisbury Unit have successfully achieved promotion to Leading Cadet.

Leading Cadet Matt and Leading Cadet Sam were assessed on their personal drill and bearing, drill instruction, leadership, peer education, and individual interviews.

Both Leading Cadets now return to the unit for further development in their Sea Cadet careers and, as senior cadets, will play a crucial role in driving the unit forward.
