Lord Lieutenant Cadet LC Jade

28 September 2017

LC Jade has just been named the all new lord lieutenants’ cadet for the district after many interviews and a hard selection process, for the next year she will serve as a helper for the lord lieutenant and represent the SCC in front of many people at many events and may even get to meet a few members of the royal family while doing so. I’m sure she will get many great opportunities with this and get to meet many different important people.
Well done Jade I hope you enjoy your year of service to the lord lieutenant.

Well done to AC Jade who after a difficult promotion board weekend has come out with a promotion to LC, passing all sections that include leadership demonstrations, peer educator (teaching), drill and bearing (armed and unarmed), drill instruction, dress inspection, an interview and a portfolio in the build up to the board. She will be known as LC Jade effective immediately.

AC Tempany also attended a board but a couple weeks later, also passing all stages of the board process now as well to be known as LC Tempany effective immediately... well done Tempany!!

BZ to both!!

Iron Ducks achieve great success at nationals

Sea Cadets AC Jade, AC Tempany, OC Ella and AC Ryan, who attend Maidenhead Sea Cadet unit, have achieved kayaking success at the recent National Combined Regatta, held at London’s Excel centre.

AC Jade and AC Tempany set the day up with a winning mentality by storming home in 1st position, in the Senior Girls 2km double race. OC Ella then followed this up with a win in both her Junior Girl 2km and 500m single races – the latter as a returning champion. AC Ryan also took on a strong field and finished in a respectable 4th place in the toughest race of the day, the Senior Boys 2km single.

The 14-16 year olds’ achievements are part of a national programme of events that saw them have to qualify through local and regional qualifiers, in order to get the chance to compete against other cadets from all over the UK, including representatives from Scotland and Northern Ireland.

AC Tempany said: “Getting to a National Sea Cadet competition is really difficult as our region is really strong, but I am very proud at being able to have made it there and coming first was something special. I have enjoyed this summer on the water with the Unit and would recommend any young cadet to take up kayaking, as it gives you lots of confidence.”

“During my time at Sea Cadets we have progressed up the ranks and have enjoyed lots of activities, such as sailing, rowing, powerboating, offshore sailing, and also first aid. I would encourage young people to join Sea Cadets as it gives them a chance to meet new people.”
